The National Association of Composers/USA (NACUSA) is a nonprofit organization. It provides public access to contact information for those composers who've chosen to display it. Members update their own records online in the password-encrypted Member Area. Via PayPal, NACUSA accepts credit card payments for membership dues and donations. The site has many other features (a searchable music catalog, an administrator chat room, e-mail distribution lists for the board and officers, a database-driven web ring, pages for displaying CDs and listening to audio samples, and much more). |
The MusicLink Foundation is a nonprofit organization that subsidizes lessons for deserving young music students. Online application forms use IFRAMES and background PHP programs to interactively query a MySQL database. The site includes a slide show, a Flash video presentation, a clickable U.S. map that assists in locating contact information for state coordinators, and many other features. The password-protected MusicLink teacher area includes tools for updating records, downloading PDF files, and generating reports. |
Conners Publications is a sheet music publishing house. The Conners Sheet Music page includes dropdown lists from which customers specify search criteria. The site provides a shopping cart with buttons for adding items and viewing the cart's contents. Once a customer finishes browsing the catalog, he/she can check out and pay by credit card or e-check. The entire Conners catalog is stored in a database. Site managers add, modify, and delete products and make global price changes using data entry forms. |
The Virginia Music Teachers Association (VMTA) is a nonprofit organization. Their site provides a set of features similar to those on the NACUSA site. It also has pages for listing chapter administrators and reports and pages for displaying information about upcoming conferences. Members can update their own records online. VMTA has a "broadcast" utility for sending e-mail announcements to its members and a tool for generating mailing labels. The "broadcast" utility processes either free-form text or pre-existing form letters and provides keywords for personalizing messages. |
Winsor Piano Studio is a small site without a database. It is tailored to the needs of an individual professional. It includes basic information about studio policies, scheduling, the teacher's biography, information about workshops she offers, and so forth. It also includes a contact form that sends a message to the teacher and a confirmation copy to the site visitor. A design of this kind can enhance an individual or small organization's professional image. |

It contains basic information about David Lipten, his biography, his music, PDF and MP3 downloads, and a contact form. It also includes a Flash presentation of a short musical excerpt that contains MP3 audio and an animated score on its home page. |
